Brokerage Information

Aviation Unlimited has been brokering airplanes for more than thirty-eight years under the leadership of Lawson Brown. Aviation Unlimited was founded in May of 1982 with the goal of improving the aircraft brokerage experience. Not your typical brokerage, we own and operate many of the aircraft we sell. We have owned, bought, and sold aircraft ranging from Cessna 172's to King Air's to Business Jets, but we specialize in Cessna 421's, King Air 200’s and Cessna Citation’s.

About Lawson

After earning an Associates Degree in Aviation, I started my pilot career as a flight instructor as well as a ground instructor, then graduated to flying professionally in twin Cessna’s as well as Citations. While a large number of brokers are not pilots, I have the professional pilot background to help understand the intricate details including operational costs, flying characteristics, and maintenance of the type of plane that I am selling.

I started brokering planes back before the internet, where communication with the potential buyer was the most important aspect of the sale. I still believe that this "old school" method, where the relationship takes precedent, is the key to success. I believe genuine connections built on trust and experience outperform the current data driven market characterized by "hits" on a website which can make for a very distant broker/buyer relationship. Excellent communication and an intentional specialization on aircraft models I am familiar with is a key aspect of my sales process.

To a lot of brokers, signing the listing is the most important part of the equation, then they go out to the market and beg for offers. This is counter-productive to the overall sales market. It is our responsibility as aircraft brokers to try and sell the aircraft for the best possible price by convincing buyers of the value of the plane at the quoted price, not just the lowest price. The more in-depth information you have regarding maintenance, upgrades and improvements to a particular plane, the better you can promote why the aircraft is superior to others on the market and ultimately worth more money when it is sold. As a complete aircraft broker, I will take control of the sale by marketing your aircraft worldwide, garnering offers, showing the aircraft and when appropriate arranging test flights, overseeing pre-purchase inspections, and finally guiding you through contracts, closing and funding.

I am proud that I have a very high number of customers who come back to me to buy and sell their planes on a repeat basis. A pretty advertisement is important, but the person doing the selling has to have a critical role in the process and a complete understanding what they are selling in order to gain the trust of both the seller and buyer.
